Mount Olympus is the highest mountain in Greece and internationally known since according to mythology the twelve gods of Olympus lived upon its tops. Thousands of visitors are flooding each year the legendary mountain to admire the magic of nature and wander on the vast slopes. Due to the rich fauna and flora it was the first area in Greece to be declared as a National Park (1938). Later it was designated as a Protected Ecosystem World Biosphere Reserve (1981) by UNESCO.
